Fanny Cai, Boston and Isaiah Sanchez, Salem, will share one of North Shore Community College’s top Student Service Awards, presented at the college’s 52nd annual Student Service Awards Ceremony on April 30.
Cai and Sanchez were both awarded the Dr. Cheryl Finkelstein Award for Outstanding Community Service, named for Dr. Cheryl Finkelstein, retired NSCC Vice President of Student and Enrollment Services. The award is a top honor presented each year to students who have made a significant contribution in one or more community service areas.
Cai, a Liberal Arts student, was recognized as having an outstanding work ethic with everything she does revolving around helping others. She has participated in numerous internal and external community service events, including the Obama Foundation Training Day and NSCC’s Day of Service. Cai is a member of the Sigma Alpha Pi honor society and served as president of the Student Government Association.
Sanchez’s nomination stated, “Under all circumstances, he always manages to think and act for the greater good and for the benefit of others.” Enrolled in the Nurse Education Program, Sanchez served as the Queer Straight Alliance president and was a student employee in the office of Student Engagement.
