The Environment Through Art & Literature, a Free Lecture

sugarmapledieoffNorth Shore Community College’s Library invites the public to The Environment Through Art & Literature, a free lecture that will be held November 4 at the Danvers Campus Library, 1 Ferncroft Road.

November 4, 2015, 10:30-11:30am – Lecture and Exhibit: Native Species Threatened- Environmental Change, Compassion, and Consciousness

Janel Houton is an artist from Beverly who paints and draws nature, landscape and environmental themes on canvas and paper using a variety of wet and dry media.

Houton will discuss her background and the ideas and experiences that led her to create this series of environmental art, largely based on the Massachusetts State list of Endangered, Threatened and Special Concern Species. Houton’s exhibition will run until December 1, 2015.

Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances, two additional lectures scheduled for November, Can Poetry Save the Planet? and Visual Studies of the Ipswich River in Topsfield have been cancelled.
