Kristine Babcock, Veteran’s Services Specialist at North Shore Community College (NSCC), has been appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Veterans’ Services. She attended a ceremony on Friday, November 4 at the State House in Boston where Governor Charlie Baker signed the Executive Order re-establishing the commission and administered the oath of office to all new appointees.
The Governor’s Advisory Council on Veterans’ Services advises the Governor and the Secretaries of Health and Human Services and Veterans’ Services on issues relating to veterans of the Commonwealth. Council members review and assess state and federal statutes and programs relating to veterans, and the delivery of services to veterans, including health care, education and access to the GI Bill, housing, outreach, training and retraining, so that they can educate the people of the Commonwealth and their elected and appointed officials regarding issues of importance to the Commonwealth’s veterans.
“It is truly an honor to have been nominated by Secretary Urena for this Advisory Council,” said Babcock. “I look forward to serving on the Advisory Council with Governor Baker and the other nominees and to continue serving Massachusetts’ Veterans.”
Babcock, from Beverly, is a former aviation electronics technician with the U.S. Navy. In her role as NSCC’s Veteran’s Services Specialist, she guides student veterans through activating their G.I.
