NSCC to Offer Free Accelerated Weatherization Installer Class

header_weatherInterested in a high growth job in the green industry? North Shore Community College’s Corporate and Community Division is offering a free Accelerated Weatherization Installer class, beginning September 29.

The residential weatherization industry is expected to grow dramatically as utility programs and government incentives make it more affordable for homeowners to make their houses more energy efficient. There will be millions of dollars spent on weatherization over the coming years and there is a growing need for more contractors to provide these services.

The free Accelerated Weatherization Installer class runs from September 29 through October 20, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-7 p.m. at the Essex Technical High School, 562 Maple Street, Danvers, MA.

This free class will provide hands-on training with the tools and techniques required to work as professional air sealing technicians and insulation installers for residential properties. Students who successfully complete the course will be prepared to pass the nationally-recognized certification exam through the Building Performance Institute (BPI) for residential weatherization.

Registration prerequisites:
• Ages 16-30
• Basic math and reading comprehension
• English language proficiency
• CORI check
• Basic carpentry skills

Funding for this Accelerated Weatherization Class has been provided by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
