The North Shore Community College (NSCC) Foundation has awarded $175,000 in scholarships to 200 NSCC students who excel in the classroom and in service to the college and community. The NSCC Foundation will award up to $200,000 in scholarship awards this year to incoming and current NSCC students.
The awards were announced at a reception attended by student recipients and the donors whose generosity made the scholarships possible. New scholarships awarded this year include the Frank Day Memorial Scholarship and the Christina Mele Memorial Scholarship.
Approximately 62% of students attending NSCC receive some sort of financial assistance. For many deserving students, scholarship assistance bridges a critical gap between financial aid and payments out-of-pocket.
Since 1985, the NSCC Foundation has presented scholarships to NSCC students to help pay for increasing educational expenses. In total, more than 3,800 students have been awarded over $3.2 million in scholarships.
“We are proud to support growth and advancement at North Shore Community College so that more students have access to excellent, affordable higher education opportunities right here on the North Shore,” said Stephen Vesey, president of the NSCC Foundation. “NSCC Foundation scholarships change lives.”
The NSCC Foundation, Inc., is a qualified 501(c)(3), fiscally separate from the College, and organized under the laws of Massachusetts. Its independent Board works to support programs that enhance and expand educational opportunity at North Shore Community College. The mission of the NSCC Foundation is to “create financial capacity for the College to realize its mission of student success.”
