NSCC Awarded More Than $370K in Grant Funds

North Shore Community College (NSCC) was recently awarded $371,313 through multiple grants that will help support a number of initiatives including equipment for health care programs, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) early college programs, and a targeted summer program for English as a Second Language (ESL) students.

The MA Skills Capital Grant, in the amount of $111,000, will aid in the purchase of equipment and light renovation for space on NSCC’s Lynn Campus that will house a Universal Health Care Lab for credit and noncredit training as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting.

NSCC STEM early college programs in Lynn and Danvers will benefit from a MA Department of Higher Education (DHE) STEM Starter Academy Early College Pathways grant for $135,313.  The Early College Program at NSCC allows qualified high school and home-schooled students to earn college credit while completing high school graduation requirements in a variety of ways.

A $125,000 MA DHE 2017 Performance Incentive Fund Program grant will aid ESL Project Complete, a targeted summer program for ESL students in Lynn with opportunities to earn college credit.  The project also supports the development of a co-requisite ESL Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) course and cultural competency training for NSCC faculty and staff.

North Shore Community College, with campus locations in Danvers, Lynn and Middleton, offers affordable associate degrees and credit certificate programs and a full range of Corporate and Professional Education programs.
