Nadira McDonald has joined North Shore Community College (NSCC) as the new director of Gateway to College.
Gateway to College is a college-based, dual-credit program designed specifically for students who have left high school, or are significantly behind in credits and are unlikely to finish high school on time.
Prior to coming to NSCC, McDonald worked with high school students in Boston and Cambridge for more than 14 years. Growing up poor in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Boston, she has personally overcome many of the obstacles her students have to hurdle.
“My goal as the new director of Gateway to College is to draw on my personal, academic and professional experiences to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to maximize their potential,” stated McDonald.
A resident of Lynn, McDonald holds a B.S. from UMass Amherst and a M.Ed. from Boston University. She is a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC).
