Lori Weir has joined North Shore Community College (NSCC) as the new Director of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), Educational Talent Search (ETS) and the Upward Bound (UB) Program.
The EOC, ETS and UB are Federal TRIO Programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. These programs serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities.
Weir brings a breadth and depth of experience within the MA community college system and with college and career readiness initiatives. Before coming to NSCC, Weir was responsible for the creation and direction of dual- and concurrent-enrollment and early college programs at Northern Essex Community College and, prior to that, she focused on promoting pathways for career and vocational education programs at Middlesex Community College.
With more than 20 years in higher education, Weir holds professional Massachusetts Educator’s licenses in Business Management and Instructional Technology and has served as an adjunct faculty member for over 18 years. She is a founding member and the current president of the New England Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NEACEP), an affiliate of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships.
A first-generation college student herself, Weir earned an A.S. from Middlesex Community College, a B.S. from Salem State University, an M.Ed. from Lesley University and is currently pursuing a G.C. in Public Policy and Administration at Salem State University.
Weir resides in Reading with her husband and two children.
