Fanny Cai, of Boston, is the recipient of North Shore Community College’s Dr. Lillian Derderian Award for Outstanding Service to the Student Association. This award recognizes an individual who has, through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, emerged as an exemplary student leader; one who has contributed to a broad range of student life activities, enhancing the value of co-curricular programming for the entire college community.
Cai serves as the Student Government Association’s (SGA) Vice President of Culture and Inclusion and is the president of the MultiCultural Society. She is a frequent volunteer at campus events and often mentors fellow peers.
Cai was recognized as a strong advocate for the arts and increasing artistic engagement within the student population. She was right on the front lines at the recent Arts Matter Advocacy Day in Boston. She is spearheading the revival of the Student Art Club and serves on the committee for Arts in April and the Diversity Leadership Council.
“Art, cultures, languages and the study of humanity are my passions,” said Cai.
A student in the Human Services Practitioners Program, Cai is currently working to complete her first field placement internship with the Bay Cove Human Services Organization, where she works with adults who have developmental disabilities.
