Dr. Laura Rubin, of Revere, has been named Dean of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Education at North Shore Community College (NSCC). Prior to being named Dean, Rubin was the Assistant Dean of STEM and Education.
In her new role, Rubin will assume leadership of the Computer Science, Education, Engineering Science, and Mathematics Departments. She will prioritize the support of current as well as the creation of new partnerships with area high schools and 4-year institutions and will continue to work with the STEM and Education faculty to provide innovative programs that are relevant to the workforce and focus on student success.
Before joining NSCC, Rubin was a full-time Natural Sciences faculty member and Laboratory Coordinator at Quincy College. While at Quincy College, Rubin became Dean of Natural and Health Sciences during which time she facilitated the development of a Biomanufacturing Program and a Physical Therapist Assistant Program as well as oversaw the implementation of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program.
Rubin holds a B.S. in biochemistry from Lafayette College as well as a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Center for Neurologic Diseases at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
